Medical Doctors and Business Professionals with the intent of helping other
Ashraya trust was formed by a group of Medical Doctors and Business Professionals with the intent of helping others, especially unprivileged children who have difficulty getting along educationally, financially and with less access to healthcare. Ashraya trust is a 100% non-profit organization. Our campus is located at Thoduvakadu, Adoor, Kerala.
Thomas Kurien is the founder of this trust. The founder was afflicted with cancer back in 2017. At that time, he was working as Director of COO office at Ooredoo,
Qatar. Ooredoo is the national telecom provider of the state of Qatar and has operations in over 15 countries.
The doctors and pundits gave him 6 weeks to live, the cancer was in the 4th stage with Gleason Score 10, had spread to his liver, lungs, bones and lymph nodes. With only six weeks remaining to live, he and his wife made a bucket list of things to do. One in the list was to visit his colleagues and staff for one last time. Upon arrival, his office was completely packed with flowers and chocolates to welcome him back. The CEO of the company, Mr. Waleed Al Sayed started with a big bear hug and about 45 minutes of lecture on never giving up, how to fight back and to live longer. He got a glimpse of “Life Beyond Cancer”. He went there to give his resignation, instead both his bosses (Mr. Yousuf Al Kubaisi, COO) together agreed to extend his contract, to work from home as long as he feels up to it. The love, the care, the warmth of his bosses, and his friends gave him a reason to fight for and live. He beat all odds and is still living, of course with severe treatment. That motivated to start this trust, encouraging kids to have a vision and fight back despite their cancer. Any help you need, our team is ready to help. We adopted the motto based on his experience “Life Beyond Cancer”.
We would like to highlight that each of the directors have a similar story to tell. Mathew 5:8. “Blessed are the poor in heart”.
